Tonik's Lab

In 1965, Popular launched it's first musical special dedicated to Puerto Rican composer Rafael Hern√°ndez. This production was part of the inaugural celebration of the bank's main building, Popular Center, in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico. In 1993, to commemorate Banco Popular's 100th anniversary, the financial institution continued it's traditional musical production, this time on a yearly basis. Known as Popular's music special (Puerto Rico's largest banking institution), this project is a gift that the corporation offers it's audiences to perpetuate, on CD and DVD, the musical traditions and narratives of Puerto Rico and Latin America. This collection has featured local and international artists such as Tommy Torres, Olga Ta√Ī√≥n, Pedro Cap√≥, Rub√©n Blades, Juan Luis Guerra, Ricky Martin, Shakira, Juanes, Marc Anthony, Daddy Yankee, Lucecita Ben√≠tez, Natalia Jim√©nez, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Kany Garc√≠a, Ozuna and Bad Bunny, among others. In addition to promoting traditions, the musical specials serve, through their sales, as a platform to support organizations and schools with music programs sponsored by Fundaci√≥n Banco Popular. Popular's new musical production, "Salsa: sabor y evoluci√≥n," features stories from artists and music connoisseurs about how this genre has evolved and remains part of Latin culture. Artists such as Gilberto Santa Rosa, Michael Stuart, Choco Orta, Jos√© Alberto "El Canario", La India, Ayme√© Nuviola, Pirulo, Domingo Qui√Īones, Rafa Pab√≥n, Luis Enrique, Luis Figueroa, Merari, Luisito Carri√≥n, Jota Ruiz, Oscar D' Le√≥n, Jeremy Bosch, Willito Otero, Karla Marie, Manolito Rodr√≠guez, Zayra Pola, Luis V√°zquez, David Rivera, Norberto V√©lez and Fabiola M√©ndez are part of this production. The musical production "Salsa: sabor y evoluci√≥n" features a DVD that includes an hour of music and interviews with artists and others sharing their knowledge and own experience regarding this genre. Aside from the DVD, a CD is produced featuring additional songs.
